Our Last Day in Belgium

For our last day in Belgium, we gave ourselves the grand tour we usually give visitors.

We met some friends first for lunch in the Sablon area, and then let the girls enjoy an ice cream treat.

There was a wedding happening at this church...

This is where we watched the coronation....

Playground stop in Parc Royale.

Pantomime stop in Parc Royale - we thought it was going to be a puppet show, but it turned out to be a one woman show, which was really entertaining.

Dinner at La Rose Blanche.  We ate at this restaurant 12 years ago on a visit to Brussels.

Trying for a nice Grand Place shot...

The one and ONLY shot with Mannekin Pis.  The peeing boy statue Brussels is ridiculously famous for.

What a great way to spend our last day in Brussels!

Grace's Dragonfly Research Project

So proud of our Kindergartener!  The parents got to move around the room and see presentations by other kids.  I was so impressed.  This is KINDERGARTEN!

I love my blog!

I love my blog.  I really, really do.  I always use to it to refer back to trips, significant events, pictures, etc.  But somehow in the last 6 months, I have lost the time it needs.  Plus, we use the laptop to watch TV, so the only time I have down time, the laptop is busy.

But I'm planning on keeping it.  And trying my best to get back into it.  Maybe one day I'll get caught up.  But I'm starting fresh with our move to Florida.  I already gave it a catchy new title.  The Geogia Caspermeyer's:  From Belgium to South Florida.  Maybe one day I'll be able to update it to..."and back to Georgia!"

Happy Halloween!

Since we were in Greece for Halloween, I didn't pack costumes....but found these shirts and brought the masks I made with Grace's class during her Halloween party at school.  Halloween isn't really celebrated in Europe (except maybe in England) like it is in the US.  The girls will be in for a huge surprise when they get to do a real trick-or-treat in the US!

AWCB Trunk or Treat 2014

We still try to expose the girls to American traditions while living in Belgium....Halloween isn't really celebrated here.  The longer we live here, the more we see, but there is no door to door trick or treating or big celebrations at school.  Thankfully, the American Women's Club does a good job at hosting a Trunk or Treat.  You gather in the parking lot, decorate your trunk, and the kids go from car to car trick or treating.  Then we all do a potluck dinner....and voila!  You've celebrated Halloween.  Although this year, it was about two weeks early because of the timing of fall break.

Villers La Ville Abbey

After church, I wanted to take pictures of the girls at the Abbaye de Villers with their famed red ivy.  The red ivy was a complete bust.  Almost non-existent. But this is one of my favorite places in Belgium....

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes....in French!

And her accent is amazing!  I can't pronounce ears...les oreilles.  I have trouble with all words starting with vowels.

She is taking 30 minutes a day of French, and comes home every day saying or singing something new or different in French.  LOVE IT!  Wish it had started 3 years ago.....but oh well!
