Bee version 2.0

Happy Halloween!

I've been trying to get a good picture of her all week. This will have to do. She didn't really like having her antennae on her head.

The wings started out as orange. I've been spraying painiting them with floral paint all week to try and turn them yellow. Nylon doesn't take spray paint too well.

The tutu was easy to make. I see many tutu's in our future! And anyone else that wants one.

Happy Eve of Halloween Eve

Grace wore her "happy halloween" outfit to school today because she is wearing her top secret costume to school tomorrow. At least part of it. Stay tuned for the big reveal....

And she looked so darn cute, particularly her candy corn socks, we had to do a photo shoot on the front step this evening. Here are a bunch of shots....I had a hard time narrowing them down, and believe me, this is a narrow downed set: Fall 2009

Remember this bee?

These pictures were taken some time during Grace's first week.

Could she "bee" any cuter?

Playing with my new table

To encourage standing, we bought Grace a play table..... it has not encouraged pulling up, by any means. But she likes it if she can remain standing. All bets are off when she falls down. :(

First sleep over

Grace had her friend Riley over for her first sleep over. Actually, Riley and her mom, our good friend Laura were in town visiting Riley's Grandmother, so they came for an overnight visit yesterday.

Riley is a little over one month older then Grace. The girls had so much fun together. They played nicely together, imitated sounds each other was making, ate together, and took a bath together. They did not sleep together, however. But they both slept pretty well, in their own beds in their own rooms!

We had so much fun, and can't wait to watch these two group up together over the years to come.

Here's two fun videos from bath time:

9 Month Stats!

We had a great visit to the doctor this morning. We did get one shot, which did cause some angst, but it was quickly diverted.

Here are Grace's stats:

Height: 29 inches - 90-95%
Weight: 19 lbs 13 oz. - 50-75%
Head: 46 3/4 cm - 95%

We have a long, lean big headed string bean. Who we love very much. :)

9 Months Old!!

9 Things about Grace this month:

1. First ear infection. We went to the doctor for a checkup for her pesky cough, and the doctor said her chest sounded much better but now she has an ear infection. I don't think we would have ever known. Like I've mentioned before, she plays with her ears regularly. Last time we were in the doctor's office I mentioned it, and the doctor said...."oh, it's just a habit." This time, while we were talking about the infection, the doctor goes..."look, see...she's messing with her ear now as a sign." I'm like, whaaaat, SERIOUSLY! You told me that was a habit!! I need a 'Babies for Dummies' manual, STAT.

2. She was a trooper with her medicine, both the antibiotics for the ear infection and the inhaler for the cough. Administering the inhaler soon became a fun game.... you try convincing an 8.5 month old this is fun: http://www.aerochambervhc.com/. We had the orange one. It seriously reminded me of a hamster tube.

3. Finger foods. Grace is eating green beans, carrots, baby cheetos (oh, so healthy!), bananas, grapes, potatoes, orzo, and as a special 9 month day treat, shredded chicken. She is enthused to be picking up her own food and eating it.

4. We had a tooth break through.....TODAY! How about that for timing? Could be why most of her photo shoot looked like this tonight...

And why the remote was the only thing to make her happy.

5. Her afternoon naps are almost always 1 1/2 - 2 hrs now. The morning nap averages out at right under an hour. And still sleeping well at night. Most nights. I hope I don't jinx us by writing this. I have heard her a few nights this week talking to herself at 3 or 4am, but no tears.

6. Grace holds her own bottle! She grabs it and puts it in her mouth when she wants more and swats it away when she's done.

7. No mobility...yet. Pulls up a little bit from our laps. If the wind is blowing in the right direction.

8. Grace waves. It reminds me of the hand motions from The Supreme's "Stop! In the Name of Love." She just sticks her arm and hand straight out in front of her. Occasionally there is also some arm flapping. Just depends on how excited to see you. She sometimes also includes a point with her pointer finger.

9. Lots of babbling. She does mama (a lot, I'm so lucky!), dada, buh, baba, guh, gaga, and lots of other unidentifiable sounds.

Doctor appointment tomorrow, so I'll post her stats then. In the meantime, enjoy some pictures from the past month: 9 Month Pictures

Baby Picasso

On Friday when I picked Grace up from school they were very excited to show me Grace's art work. Grace painted this entire tree herself on the classroom window of the next class. And apparently had the most fun doing it.

I'm pretty sure they paint with her almost every day. Thankfully. So I don't have to do it at home with her. Could you imagine the mess!?

Pumpkins

We took Grace to pick out a pumpkin this afternoon. I think the experience was lost on her, but we still got some cute pictures of our little pumpkin. Next year I'm sure the experience will be so much different!

Here is a slide show of some pictures from this afternoon: Pumpkins

Resemblance Part Deux

I think most people agree that Grace definitely takes after her father. But in looking at Matt's baby pictures, she doesn't really look like him as a baby. Hair and eye color, yes. But I think that's where the resemblance ends. What do you think?
