Amicalola Falls

It was a gorgeous weekend in Atlanta. The weather was absolutely perfect - no humidity and very mild temperatures. So we took advantage of a beautiful day and went up north to Amicalola Falls. It's a Georgia State Park about an hour and a half north of here with a the tallest waterfall east of the Mississippi.
Here's a slideshow of some of the shots from today: Amicalola Falls
We can't wait to go back when the leaves start changing.

6 Months Old!
Wow, it's hard to believe we're half way to one year. The last 6 months have flown by!

Two cute poses from our photo shoot this morning.
Here are Grace's six month stats:
Weight: 17 lbs. 1 oz. - 75th percentile
Height: 27 1/2 inches - 95th percentile
Head: 45 1/4 cm - 95th percentile
Skinny Minny!
Six things about Grace this month (with some pictures):
1. Sleeping is back to normal. We start our bedtime routine at 7pm, and Grace is usually in bed between 7:30/7:45. We put her down awake (on her back), and she snuggles with Belgium Bunny and falls asleep. Sometimes laying on her side. She sleeps till about 6am. And cuts us no slack on Saturdays and Sundays. Although, she will happily entertain herself in her crib for a little snooze time. Napping is another story. On the weekends, we try to get decent naps out of her, but I think we're fighting a losing battle since we can't control her naps during the week at daycare. She takes between 3-4 30-40 min naps a day. We're trying to get her to two decent 1-1 1/2 hour naps, but as long as she continues to sleep well at night, we're not going to kill ourselves over it. And perhaps she'll grow into napping better.

2. To my knowledge, we have had one other unassisted roll since we caught it on tape the first time. She is just not into it. And I've recently learned that it isn't even a developmental milestone that is tracked anymore. Partly because of the back-to-sleep SIDS campaign, a lot of babies skip rolling. Her pediatrician isn't worried, so we're not either. Particularly because she sits so well.
3. Sitting unassisted is awesome. She can sit and play with her toys and entertain herself for quite awhile.

4. Grace is eating two solid meals a day. We have about 2-3 T. of rice cereal for breakfast, and a veggie for dinner. We've tried them all now, and I have to say, carrots are still a favorite, although she seems to be like them all. We will begin to introduce fruits this weekend, initially as dessert after her veggie dinner. And eventually we'll have it for breakfast too. We'll also soon start sending veggies to school for lunch.

5. Grace is becoming increasingly more vocal. We have even caught her saying Mama. :) She knows which side her bread is buttered! Ha, I wish it was intentional. Stay tuned of video of this soon. I'm determined to catch it. But overall, she's a quiet and contemplative baby. She definitely gets that from her father.
6. Grace is most definitely teething, but no signs of any teeth just yet. She's a droolin' fool, and the doctor thinks the reason she messes with her right ear so much is a sign of teething. She is also shoving everything in her mouth and chomping on it vs. sucking.

Flower Power
We went to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens today. UPS is a proud sponsor of the current exhibit, so it didn't hurt that we got in free. :)Although Grace thought it was a total snooze fest:

It is totally something she needs to do with her grandparents. They would all love it.
Here are some of my favorite pictures from the gardens:

Duck Tub
4th of July fashion show
For the 4th, we participated in our neighborhood parade and then went to a party at our friend's Rob, Dena and Malia's house. Grace had an outfit for each occasion. Gotta show you! :)
This is what Grace wore in the parade (i.e., walk around the block in her stroller):
Complete with coordinating hair bow, of course:
And this is what she wore to party the night away (Thank you, Dailings):
And new hair bow:
And for the record, the bows are not taped, glued, stuck with honey, etc. They are clipped onto her wee little wisps of hair! I swear!
We skipped the viewing of Roswell's fireworks, and put Miss Grace to bed. She did manage to sleep through the illegal fireworks from South Carolina that were shot off in our front yard, though. Thankfully.

School & Blowout's
St. Louis
The Georgia Caspermeyer's traveled to St. Louis last week. Miss Grace was showered with so much attention and love, she's feeling neglected now. :) She was so good in the car. We took turns sitting in the back with her and entertaining her.
Friday night, Matt and I went to the Cardinals game with the Ley family (minus Amanda), Taylor, Megan, and Grandpa.
Look at this view:
Dred Scott Courthouse
Pretty good zoom, don't ya think, considering we were sitting in the very last row of the stadium:
And this, Braves "fans", is what a sold out stadium looks like (see the teeny tiny courthouse in the distance?):
