Grace's First Thanksgiving

We celebrated Grace's first Thanksgiving with Granny and Grandpa Alley. It was just the 4.5 of us, so we didn't really overdo the food too much. In fact, we are already completely done with leftovers!

Grace enjoyed everything! Before dinner she snacked with the rest of us on carrots and celery....


...and then dined with us for the main course of Turkey, Dressing, Cranberries, Sweet Potatoes, and Green Beans.

Sadly, I didn't get very many pictures from the weekend. Ok, actually NONE, other then the ones above. But Grace had the best time with her grandparents and her dog Beauregard. Beau is a chocolate lab and is about 2 weeks younger then Grace. Notice how he's referred to as HER dog, although he LIVES in Florida, thankfully. She loved him and we think she was actually saying dog all weekend. It was "dug dug" sound with a very hard vowel. A very different word then her constant chatter of "da da da da da". She loves her Da-Da.

We went to the Christmas festival at Stone Mountain and enjoyed several shows and braved the chilly air. Wait till you see Grace's hat. Too much cuteness for this post, so stay tuned. We also went to a short 4-D movie of the Polar Express. It's one of those things where they spray you with water, jiggle your seat, and blow air on you while you watch the movie in 3D. Grace was mesmerized.

We had a great weekend! And exhausting. Grace took 2 hour and a half naps yesterday and was a bear to wake up this morning for school. Much like the rest of us.

10 Months Old!

[Sorry for the delay in posting this....my internet has been up and down all weekend.]



Grace is 10 months old today! And what a great day to be 10 months old. It was 75 and GORGEOUS outside, so we went swinging.


Here are 10 things about Grace this month:

1. Bottom front teeth (both) are in! Not the best picture, but we had to work quick to even get a shot at all.

2. Grace is eating everything....almost. As a sample, here's what she had this weekend. All finger foods. Peas, carrots, artichokes, baby portabella mushrooms, egg yolk, mozzarella cheese, croissant, chick peas, pasta, cheddar cheese, GARLIC butter, cheese grits, cream cheese, bagel, pineapple, melon, goldfish, tilapia, black beans, corn, and tortillas. For whatever reason, I hesitate to try tomato with her. But so far.... we haven't met anything we don't like. For now, we're still staying away from oat.

3. Mobility. Meet Scoots McGraw.



It's not much. But it's something.

4. Points and calls Matt 'dada'. Much to my chagrin.

5. Still doing 360 turns on her belly but without much of the angst.

6. Another ear infection...this time, in both ears. Doing really well with her antibiotics. To counteract any negative side effects to the meds, I've been giving her a probiotic every day - think DanActive. Seems to be working!

7. Some signs of cuddling emerging. The weekend before the ear infection was discovered, sleep was a big issue. I would go in and get her, and she would immediately lay her head down on my shoulder. She's never been a cuddly snuggly baby. So even though she was feeling bad, it was so nice to get a cuddle.

8. We also had our first Mommy-Daughter sleepover. She was up and down so much a couple of nights, I broke down and brought her to bed with me. We actually slept pretty well together.

9. Gets so excited when she sees big kids. Squeals with delight. We first noticed this on Halloween, but ever since....

10. Gets mad as a hornet when she falls on her bottom. She stands so well holding on to things. But one false move and she looses her balance and falls on her bottom. You would have thought the world was ending. It's literally a no breathing screaming event. And her bottom is padded (diaper). It's unreal.

360 degrees

We have progress in the movement department. Grace can now turn herself 360 degrees while on her tummy. She doesn't like it (by the sounds of it) but she does it.

My computer blew up Saturday night... but technology is amazing and I was back up and running first thing yesterday.

Anyway, I didn't get to post these cute pics of Grace. We sat on the stairs as we waited for all the kids to come by. Grace LOVED all the kids. She got so excited every time a new group came to the door. She wasn't scared or shy at all.

Halloween is the best day EVER!
