On a whim, we decided to go visit Trappist Brewery number 3 today. We had planned to go to a cute Belgian town, Dinant, but it was thunderstorming, and that didn't bode well with a day out in the sun. So we took a look at the map, and in conjunction with weather.com, found the least wet option to be Achel. And it worked out well.
It was raining when we got there, but it cleared up while we were enjoying lunch.
Matt and I sampled the local brews, which we decided we really didn't care for.....
And Grace and Audrey sampled what I initially thought was strawberry milk, but was really '4 red fruits' milk..... so essentially strawberry, raspberry, apple and red berry milk. They liked it.
You couldn't actually tour the abbey. But we tried to get a few shots around the grounds.
The abbey is actually on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium. Literally.
So this was a fun shot. You don't see many actual borders in Europe these days.
Afterwards we went to the outlet mall. Turned out to be a really nice, dry, and hot day!
