When Good Babies Go Bad
Alternative Title: How much wood can a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
The last two nights, a different child has taken residence up in Grace's room. After we've put her jammies on, she has crawled over, pulled up on the side of her crib, reached through the slats, and grabbed Quincy bunny, and shoved him in her mouth. A clear indicator to us that she just wants to go to bed. Ok, fine. Skip the story, and let's just go to bed. So we've tucked her in, snuggly with a bunny under each arm, kissed her good night, turned off the lights and gone downstairs.
Our after Grace bedtime routine usually consists of doing the dishes during commercials of whatever show we're watching. We have a monitor downstairs and we usually turn it on to listen in for any outbursts that might occur. Sometimes we do this immediately after we've put her to bed, but most of the time it's when/if we remember.....or after we've heard an ear piercing shriek that needs no monitor!
So the past two nights we've casually turned on the monitor, not really thinking we'll hear anything and both times, we've been surprised with music. Which means, Miss Grace has gotten up from her snuggly position and gone over to the side of her crib and turned on her music box. Ok, fine. Entertain yourself. This is a good thing, right? We hear lots of moving around, some talking, babbling, and a lot of silence. Tuesday night, this went on for a good 30 minutes or so. And then the music stopped, and not a peep, so I figured she laid back down and went to sleep. We did get a shout out later that probably meant she couldn't find her bunny, but she quickly settled herself down. On my way to bed, I peeked in and found her curled up in a little ball, sleeping nicely, Belgium bunny tucked under her arm.
So Wednesday night, we were prepared for a repeat performance, once we heard the music playing. But things turned ugly. Really ugly. I mentioned to Matt that sometimes Natalie falls asleep standing up, so we should be prepared for a baby standing up sleeping when we go peek in on her. But what I wasn't prepared for was a baby wide awake GNAWING ON THE SIDE OF HER CRIB!

Emergency trip to Babies R Us is in the works for lunch today to buy some gadget to prevent further damage!

14 months
A few days late....and several dollars later.....
Grace is sick and ended up at the doctor's office Monday. Luckily (?) it's just a virus, so we just have to let it run its course. She doesn't have a fever, but a very drippy nose that is irritating her throat and causing her to cough, cough, cough all night long. We're trying out new Children's Mucinex (1/2 dose).
This is our sad, sick girl watching Sesame Street. Gotta love having multiple PBS channels - it's practically on all day.

So just a few things about Grace the past month:

So just a few things about Grace the past month:
- We are PT-free. We took Grace to visit her Pedi last week and she was very impressed with Grace's progress. She sits herself up, rolls over, pulls up, crawls, and is cruising around now. And now we're running around and chasing her everywhere. Why did we do this to ourselves?! :)
- And now, she sleeps on her belly sometimes. She does this at school, but never did at home. But all this movement, causes for a very busy girl while sleeping. Lots of banging our head on the side of our crib, and sleeping in a tiny little ball in the corner.
- 8 teeth now, and we think those pesky molars are coming in.
- Words, words and more words. Trying to get a video of all her words, but just in case, words Grace says and sometimes uses in the right context: Apple, Abby, Elmo, Mama, Dada, Happy, Ball, Ryan, E-I-E-I-O (does that count?), Aaachooo (as in sneezing - new on Monday), Choo Choo (for train - new on Tuesday), Cheese (new on Saturday), Dog, Baby, Bubble, Purple, Boo (seems to have multiple meanings and is her "go to" word when all else fails), Bumble (bee), Shoes (ooooes), Uh Oh, Up, Down, Hi, and Bye Bye. The pronunciation is off on some, but she consistently uses these words.

Friends
Today, when Matt picked Grace up from school, they stopped off at the caterpillar on the classroom wall that has each kids picture and birth date on a circle that makes up the caterpillar body.
So he asked her..."Grace, where is Will?" And she CORRECTLY pointed at Will. "Where is Claire?" And she again, pointed at the correct picture of Claire. And so on....
They came home, and I was so impressed. And somewhat in doubt. Really? But wow.
So while we're cooking dinner, I notice we have a class pic up on our fridge from Dress Up Day. Awww, isn't she cute? On a side note, Grace, and Ryan, the little dude in Camo on the left, were the most cooperative for Dress Up Day (and therefore, got top billing on the class picture).

So I start asking her...."Where's Ryan? Where's Abby?" And not only did she point, she also sounded like she was saying their names!!!!
Now, put on your best "mommy ears" where you know 'baaaaaa ba ladamanadada' obviously means "I love you, Mommy" and watch and listen (and cut her some slack on some of her accuracy - they're in costume, so she might not recognize Brandon the Fireman):

Some things never change and other exciting news
One year ago yesterday, I blogged about the strange March 1st snowfall:
March 1st 2009
And here we are, a year later.....

It's suppose to keep coming down till at least 2pm. Do we still live in Georgia? Must be all that Global Warming....right, Al?
And are you ready for the other exciting news? I went to get Grace up this morning, and heard music coming from her room. There is only one way this can happen.... she sat herself up in her crib!!!
And there is so much of this:

and this:
and this:
going on around here, we finally bought a gate for the stairs!
And check out our new 'oooooes'!!
One day too late cutting finger nails, and you get scratched faces. :( But she loves her new 'ooooes'. The teachers even mentioned that she points at them and says 'oooooes'. Creating a shoe monster!!
